The Mullins Boys: A Day at the Creek

I have been photographing both of these boys since birth.   I must say it’s such fun to see children grow right before my eyes and to share in the milestones in their life.  I know one day when they are grown they will look at these images and remember this day and share it with their own children.  I’m glad I get to be such an important part in preserving those memories.   I know how much the pictures of myself growing up mean to me and my daughter.

I have to say I was a bit nervous about this session.  First of all, after photographing children year after year it makes you feel like part of the family.   I get nervous about every shoot because I approach it as if these were my children and I want the photos to be perfect.   OK… so I admit I am a perfectionist and maybe to a fault.   But as the parent of a grown daughter,  I know the importance of the photos of them when they are young.

Their mom, Tifinie and I had talked about this shoot for almost a year now and I knew how important it was to her.  I wanted everything to be ideal so I had been waiting for exactly the right time …. I needed the light to be perfect.  I needed the water to be warm, not too low and not too high. {Sounds ridiculous but if you have ever canoed down a creek or river you know what I mean.}   And I needed to find a location where there were exposed rocks so that it would make it easier for us all to maneuver the location and be assured that no one would fall on slippery rocks.   Well, we did pretty well…..only one person fell in lol!   It was such a fun evening and we all enjoyed the shoot. I hope you enjoy the photos!
